Illinois Governor Signs Bill Protecting Sexually Exploited Children  
Polaris Project commends the Governor of Illinois Pat Quinn for signing HB 6462, “The Illinois Safe Children Act.” Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez and End Demand Illinois - a coalition of survivor activists, service providers, and law enforcement - championed this bill. Effective immediately, this law is the first in the nation to make all minors under the age of 18 who are exploited in prostitution completely immune from prosecution.
